FICTION

Find here information about and the submission requirements for Fiction works.

What is Fiction?

Fiction stories are made up or make-believe stories that take place in a different world or one similar to ours. Anything from children’s stories to adult novels and everything in between! They can have influence from real-life or historical events just like they could have influence from none. Fiction writing is an extremely large category.

There are many genres within Fiction including, but not limited to, the more popular ones such as Romance, YA, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Horror and Poetry. There are also multiple formats within Fiction including Flash Fiction, Short Stories, Novels, Novellas and Poetry! Each of these genres and formats have their own requirements and limits so it is important to decide which your story or stories fall under.

While stories can be found under multiple genres, they only have one particular format. Here are the limits for each:

  • Novel: +40,000 words

  • Novella: 17,000 – 40,000 words

  • Short Story: 1,000 – 10,000 words

  • Flash Fiction: 1,000 words or less

Please remember that these are approximations!
